Stewardship is living out a commitment to be Christ-centered rather than self-centered. Stewardship is not limited to your home, your church and your family. It is something you should take with you everywhere you go: work, school, meetings, shopping etc. At home we can provide a living Christian example for our children. At work, we can show our fellow workers examples of Christian behavior. In church, we can participate with others in worship, projects and forming bonds. Stewardship is limitless.
Stewardship is also not something that should come from what you have left over or only according to what the budget calls for.
We need to learn to be thankful for the simple things that we take for granted every day: our family, our health, our friends, our job, our shelter, our food and much more. Lots of us say grace before we eat a meal. How many of us think about what we are saying? How often do we thank God for a hot shower in the morning, being able to afford three meals a day for ourselves and our children, having clean clothes to wear, having insurance or having opportunities for education and enrichment?
